Weibull and Exponential Renewal Models in Spare Parts Estimation: A Comparison
نویسندگان
چکیده
Providing the required spare parts is an important issue of product support, which is important for system/machine utility improvement. Required spare parts estimation can be performed through different approaches, one of the realistic and wellfounded spare parts estimation method is based on the system’s reliability characteristics and taking into consideration the system operating environment. In this paper we study and compare two renewal models namely exponential and Weibull models (constant versus non-constant failure rate assumptions) used in estimation of spare parts for nonrepairable components. We also estimate the differences between the two models and calculate the percentage of error. Furthermore a case study is conducted on the hydraulic system of LHD machines in Kiruna Mine in Sweden to find out which factor has a significant impact on the estimation of the number of required spare parts

Product support and after sales services are among the important areas which have attracted the attention of managers and decision makers, especially in the field of supply chain and logistics management. Supplying the spare parts of products to guarantee the desired operation of product during its life time is in the focus of attention of logistics and supply chain managers. What makes the d...
متن کاملCombining Generalized Renewal Processes with Non-Extensive Entropy-Based q-Distributions for Reliability Applications
The Generalized Renewal Process (GRP) is a probabilistic model for repairable systems that can represent the usual states of a system after a repair: as new, as old, or in a condition between new and old. It is often coupled with the Weibull distribution, widely used in the reliability context. In this paper, we develop novel GRP models based on probability distributions that stem from the Tsal...

In this paper, based on the progressive type II right censored data, we consider estimates of MLE and AMLE of scale and shape parameters of weibull distribution. Also a new type of parameter estimation, named inverse estimation, is introdued for both shape and scale parameters of weibull distribution which is used from order statistics properties in it. We use simulations and study the biases a...
متن کاملModified Maximum Likelihood Estimation in First-Order Autoregressive Moving Average Models with some Non-Normal Residuals
When modeling time series data using autoregressive-moving average processes, it is a common practice to presume that the residuals are normally distributed. However, sometimes we encounter non-normal residuals and asymmetry of data marginal distribution. Despite widespread use of pure autoregressive processes for modeling non-normal time series, the autoregressive-moving average models have le...
متن کاملA Mixed Kijima Model Using the Weibull-Based Generalized Renewal Processes
Generalized Renewal Processes are useful for approaching the rejuvenation of dynamical systems resulting from planned or unplanned interventions. We present new perspectives for the Generalized Renewal Processes in general and for the Weibull-based Generalized Renewal Processes in particular. Disregarding from literature, we present a mixed Generalized Renewal Processes approach involving Kijim...
